SMS Service Information
We are in the process of transitioning all clients to a new SMS method due to recent regulation changes affecting all businesses sending text messages. Each USchedule client will need to be transitioned, and text messages currently sent via the old method are no longer reliable and in the near future will no longer be sent. The major change requires USchedule (on behalf of our clients) to receive express consent from each user that is receiving SMS messages before sending any.
Customers and employees will no longer receive SMS messages unless they opt in. Below are the options for customers and employees to opt in to receive SMS messages -
• New customer registrations will have a checkbox to opt in when registering.
• Existing customers will have a checkbox on their profile to opt in/out.
• On all booking pages, customers that have not opted in to SMS yet will be presented with a checkbox to opt in at time of booking.
• Employees booking on behalf of the customer will be presented with a button that sends an email to the customer with a link to opt in.
• Employees must log in under their own profile and will have a checkbox on their profile to opt in/out.
All cellular carriers now charge businesses for each text message sent or received, and USchedule will be passing on the cost to our clients. The fee is $5 per month for every 350 messages. (250 in Canada). SMS messages are only sent for reminders, so you can estimate the approximate cost by multiplying the number of appointments you have for a 30 day period and for each appointment one reminder text is sent to the customer. Most clients will not exceed the 350 messages per 30 day period and therefore the additional fee would be $5.00 for a month.
